Tapestry 5 web framework
Lately I’ve been writing a Tapestry 5 based web application. I’ve used it before for a smaller application but this is the first time I’ve used it on a larger project. In a number of ways it is a…
Nocnoi Portrait I:
This here is Nocnoi (knock-noy). He is a rescue budgie and lives with our two other budgies (one of which he is the daddy of). He has a gammy leg on account of a partially smashed hip. Despite his injuries and his funny hobble, he is “top bird” and gets first pick at perches and food always. Here he is probably willing me and my beer-can armed camera to burst into flames and reduce to cinders. He is like that, much to our amusement, which of course only causes his chagrin to be inflamed even further.
Taken with the Minolta 70-210mm f/4 “beercan”.
Nocnoi Portrait II:
He’s a rescue budgie with a gammy leg and disjoint hip; and he’s just divine. Taken with the Minolta 70-210mm f/4 “beercan”.

Tiny Green Hunter:
A tiny green jumping spider. Less 5mm. I went out into the backyard to get a caterpillar that Lisa saw, so I had the 50mm macro lens on, this guy was also there, he is tiny so please excuse the tight crop! This shot has heavier colour processing done to it with Aperture than the other one.

Everyone’s releasing back catalogue it seems. My friends at Transmission Communications are also working on their 1990s back catalogue too. In the email this afternoon from this little missive…
Basics of the Unix Philosophy
This is the Unix philosophy: Write programs that do one thing and do it well. Write programs to work together. Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface.
